Ikechukwu Nzeakor – Director
Ikechukwu (IK) Nzeakor is a Chemical Engineer with specialization in water and sewage treatment projects. Prior to joining EMTECH in 2014, IK was the Deputy Managing Director/Projects Director of Ortech Nigeria Limited, a firm with interest in water and in electricity projects. At Ortech, IK managed the development and management of Electrical projects in metering, metering infrastructure deployment, AMR and electric energy vending systems. Also, he developed and implemented, with the help of his team members, various electricity projects including the procurement and installation of the first 1000 pole-mounted split single and three phase prepaid meters in Ibadan Disco; the procurement and installation of high and low voltage maximum demand meters under the CAPMI program in Ibadan Disco; as well as the recertification and upgrade of over 1000 MD meters installations in Abuja, Ibadan and Port Harcourt Discos.
Upon joining ORTECH Nigeria Limited in 2006, IK was assigned to the company’s water project in Cross River State Water Board Limited (CRSWBL), a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project for the delivery of water and collection of water revenues in Cross River State, Nigeria. IK was responsible for managing the water treatment plants at Ugep which included water quality testing. During this time with the PPP team in Cross River State, IK also carried out a major reorganisation of the CRSWBL Laboratory and water testing schedules to further improve water quality for end-users. The minimum water quality standard which was achieved in CRSWBL never fell below World Health Organization (WHO) Standards.
IK also worked as the Deputy Project Manager and Project Manager in the Ortech’s World Bank funded PPP program for the Kaduna State Water Board between 2008 and 2011. He had the full responsibility for running the World Bank assisted management contract for the operation, management and maintenance of five urban water treatment plants and their booster stations in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The plants had a combined installed capacity of 327,000 cubic meters per day and served more than 2,000,000 people. His responsibilities also included management of day to day production operations; improving and maintaining water quality standards; task organization; supervision of team members; staff training as well as implementing health and safety standards.
Before joining Ortech in 2006, IK worked at the Chevron Water Treatment Plant in Lagos where he managed the operation and maintenance of the plant and also had responsibility for water supply to the staff housing Estate in Lagos. He was also responsible for quality control systems and monitoring for the production of potable water on a 24-7 basis.
IK holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria as well as Master of Science Degree in Information Management from the Federal University of Technology Owerri. IK has also attended a number of professional development courses in water and waste management.
